Former Councilman Wayne New’s Request for Confirmation of Concession

Amanda, as you may have heard by now, the correct announcement was made by Jamie that CCN residential will no longer be considered as part of the GID formation process now and in the future.
It was an incredible showing of 100s of residents who expressed their opposition. Since Jamie realized that the residents were overwhelmingly opposed, she made the right decision to announce that CCN residential area would no longer be considered as a participant in the GID and cancelled the meeting.
Since Jamie was speaking as your representative, the residents would like to receive your written confirmation of this important conclusion. Thank you.

Subject: End of the Cherry Creek North GID Exploration
Cherry Creek North Stakeholders:
The community engagement process to investigate a General Improvement District (GID) for the entirety of the Cherry Creek Statistical Neighborhood was initiated in early 2025, with intentions to find a way to support you all in receiving services you have indicated to my Council office as important to you. Our team works diligently to try and bring value for your tax dollars to you and all constituents we serve, and funding the exploration of a tool many neighborhoods have successfully deployed was prioritized with the best of intentions.
Last night officially ended the exploration and engagement effort to form a GID for the Cherry Creek North neighborhood.
While we always welcome open dialogue and encourage all voices to be heard, it has been discouraging to see how misinformation and divisive rhetoric overshadowed what was intended to be a constructive community conversation. I have never in my over twenty year professional career seen the kind of behavior I’ve seen from the Cherry Creek North neighbors during this process. I’d like to ask you all to try to move past this and remember that neighbors can disagree without being disagreeable, because you will continue to be neighbors long after this.
Looking ahead, we will continue working with stakeholders in other parts of the study area who wish to consider whether a GID might benefit their neighborhoods. We ask that you respect their process and allow them the space to determine for themselves if this tool is the right fit for their community.
Best Wishes
